North Korea launches missile into Sea of Japan

Earlier, North Korea had warned the global community that it will retaliate if they put sanctions over its latest round of weapons tests.
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson acknowledged the launch in a brief statement but said the U.S. had spoken enough about North Korea and would not comment further.
Two weeks ago, the South Korean and USA militaries said they detected what they called a failed North Korean ballistic missile launch.
"It's hard to know if that statement was made with any specifics mind ... but (options) could include an increased naval presence, especially by destroyers and other platforms equipped with Aegis and with SM-3 missiles (used to intercept SRBMs, MRBMs, and IRBMs)", John Grisafi, theNK News Director of Intelligence, said.
The test comes just days before Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet with President Donald Trump in Florida, during which North Korea is expected to be a major point of discussion.
The European Union on Thursday expanded sanctions against North Korea over the country's nuclear tests and launches of ballistic missiles.
South Korea and the US confirm North Korea launched a single ballistic missile at a facility near Sinpo at 6:42 a.m. Wednesday Seoul time (5:42 p.m. Tuesday ET).

The two leaders spoke on the phone following the test, with Trump reaffirming support for regional allies Japan and South Korea and Abe calling the launch "new threat from North Korea".
