Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today hit out at Pakistan after its military court ordered a death sentence to Indian national and Ex-Naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav.
Rai further said the Pakistan military has taken advantage of the statement made by the Home Minister of Balochistan saying that Jadhav created war against Balochistan and have now put him under a death sentence.
Swaraj further said, "I would also like to tell the House that I have been in touch with the parents of Jadhav and we are extending our fullest support to them in this hard situation".
A resolution was moved in Pakistan's Punjab state assembly urging the federal government to take up the issue with the Nepali government, which "must act to stop the foreign intelligence agencies" from shifting the abducted officer to India.
The lower house of the Indian parliament, the Lok Sabha, was united in condemning Jadhav's sentence.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Tuesday dismissed concerns that the trial of Kulbhushan Jadhav did not follow due legal process and said there was nothing in the proceedings that was against the law. He further added that the actions of the Indian forces in occupied-Kashmir amounted to "premeditated murder". She went on to say that the death sentence was an "act of premeditated murder". "I would caution Pakistan government to consider the consequences for our bilateral relationship if they proceed on this matter", said Swaraj in the Rajya Sabha.
In case the appeal court upholds the FGCM verdict, Jadhav would have the opportunity to seek mercy from the army chief and the president of Pakistan.
On Monday, Yadav - who was caught from Balochistan a year ago and who has confessed to instigating terrorism in Pakistan - was awarded the death penalty in an unprecedented decision that immediately sparked a bitter diplomatic spat between the two hostile neighbours.
Recalling that his maternal grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was also sentenced to death, he said his party is against capital punishment on principle.
While no one was executed in India in 2016, 87 people were executed in Pakistan in the same year and more than 6000 were on death row till December 2016.
Strongly reacting to this, India summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and issued a demarche.
Swaraj said Jadhav was doing business in Iran and was kidnapped and taken to Pakistan.
