Liverpool look to continue their recent good form this weekend as they chase down Tottenham for second in the Premier League table.
Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho came off the bench to inspire Liverpool to a 2-1 comeback victory over Stoke in the English Premier League on Saturday. "There are a lot of points to fight for and every game for us is important".
They last beat lowly Middlesbrough 2-0 ahead of a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Manchester, but then lost 2-1 to Chelsea, 2-0 to Leicester and 1-0 to Burnley.
His absence during the Africa Cup of Nations illustrated just how much of an impact he has made during his debut season on Merseyside, with the Reds failing to win in the top-flight during his unavailability.
"You could say that arguably this set of fixtures is the most hard we've had this season and that continues obviously with the game against Liverpool tomorrow".
Liverpool's medical staff were hoping they could avoid an operation but the decision has been taken to write off the forward's campaign and get him fit again for pre-season.
"We've gone through fixtures against Manchester City, Chelsea, Leicester City who are in resurgent form and Burnley away which is always hard because their home record is strong, and it's allowed us to drop a couple of positions in the league".
"We need more points on the board, that's clear", he said. We have won a few games this year, but this was really special.
Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane have arguably been Liverpool's two best players this season but while Lallana could potentially be back by the start of May, his offensive teammate has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
