N.Korea calls US bombing of Syria 'unacceptable'

"North Korea has been engaged in a pattern of provocative behaviour", McMaster said.

The immediate focus after the strikes was on Russia's Vladimir Putin's reaction. "We have no further comment".

"And so, the president has asked us to be prepared to give him a full range of options to remove that threat to the American people and to our allies and partners in the region", he said.

Tensions between the USA and North Korea continue to escalate as United States officials consider the best way forward.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Sunday that he and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed on the importance of close coordination over North Korean issues as Pyongyang continues its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.

'I think President Xi, from their part, shared the view that this has reached a very serious stage in terms of the advancement of North Korea's nuclear capabilities, ' Tillerson said.

With some observers now talking about the possibility of USA military action against North Korea, a lawmaker from Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party on Sunday said such a scenario was unlikely as a military strike against the North could precipitate a nuclear attack on the South or Japan.

"It signals to Pyongyang that the U.S. has a new sheriff in town who isn't hesitant about pulling his gun from the holster", Kim said.

But, the U.S.is running out of options in dealing with the threat posed by the North Korean leader, according to Ret. The North calls the drills preparations for war against it.

It has conducted five nuclear tests - two since the beginning of a year ago - and scores of missile tests.

But the official Chinese account of the talks in its state news agency Xinhua did not mention North Korea.

Analysts had earlier said the strikes contained a clear message for Pyongyang that the USA was not afraid to exercise the military option, and there had been speculation as to how the North would respond.

Japan, together with the US and South Korea, tightened sanctions in December 2016, following North Korea's nuclear and missile tests. As one of the world's middle powers, South Korea has been relegated to a back seat in regional politics due to its economically powerful neighbors.

The North Korean government appears to believe that developing a nuclear missile capable of striking the United States is in its best interests, but at some point in time the USA will be compelled to act. North Korea has already publicized the parade to foreign press outlets and tour groups, according to MBC.
