Gas prices rising in Florida

The latest activities oversees in Syria have not caused immediate movement in gas or oil prices but how the situation develops over the next few weeks could change that.
"Motorists should expect more volatility at the pump in the coming months", said Josh Carrasco, spokesman for AAA.
Motorists are seeing sharply higher prices at the pumps in New Jersey. "Plus, summer's just around the corner, which means we'll soon switch to summer-blend gasoline across the country, and that blend costs more because it's more expensive to produce".
"Higher gas prices are already influencing the travel industry", said Bill Sutherland, AAA senior vice president of Travel and Publishing. The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported a surprising increase of 1.57 million barrels in crude inventories, bringing total U.S. stocks to a record 535.5 million barrels. More people are driving and oil prices are rising too. This number reflects an increase of 70 cents per gallon over the same period past year. A number of California refineries have scaled back production for repairs and maintenance. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil averaged $49.31 last week - an increase of $1.46 from the week before.
The national average is up 33 cents per gallon over the price a year ago. Friday's daily settlement of $50.60 was the highest since March 7. The DFW areas are paying as much as $2.25 per gallon.
Georgia gas prices averaged $2.20 on Sunday - 4 cents more than a week ago, 2 cents less than one month ago, and 16 cents more than a year ago.
