Drake, the Chainsmokers lead with 11 Billboard Award nods

Drake, Twenty One Pilots and Rihanna dominate the nominations in four categories for the 2017 Billboard Music Awards as announced exclusively by Billboard on Monday.

The two stars are nominated for top artist at the Las Vegas ceremony next month.

Albums from Beyonce, Drake, Rihanna, twenty one pilots and the Weeknd are up for top Billboard 200 album.

The Billboard Music Awards nominees are based on measurements made by Billboard and its data partners, which include Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.

Top male artist nominations went to Justin Bieber, Drake, Future, Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd.

The nominations for Top Social Media Artist this year include BTS, the only Korean artist among all nominees in all categories.

The Top Hot 100 Song competition is sure to be one of the night's most anticipated races, with the following hits in the mix: The Chainsmokers feat.

Drake, Wizkid and Kyla's One Dance, Justin Timberlake's Can't Stop The Feeling and Twenty One Pilots' Heathens are also in the running.

Other categories reflect artists sales, radio airplay and streaming figures, social media popularity, as well as celebrating different genres of music including country, gospel, rap and dance.
