It might make booking Jones' next fight that much more hard considering he's inarguably the No. 1 contender to face current champion Daniel Cormier, who defeated Anthony "Rumble" Johnson at UFC 210 on Saturday night.
There was a ferocious battle in the light heavyweight title between Daniel "DC" Cormier and Anthony Johnson Saturday night.
"At this point, it doesn't anymore", Cormier said.
IMPLANTS. Breast implants not allowed in a fight? They can drop their drawers and get on the scale again - but that would be the final weigh-in.
There was high, hectic drama in Buffalo, earlier today, when UFC light heavyweight champion appeared to be out of UFC 210.
But the former Olympic wrestler controlled the fight, keeping fellow American Johnson up against the fence and limiting the challenger to just a handful of kicks and punches.
"He better not come in my cage after I win".
Cormier chalked the near-miss up to a discrepancy between scales, telling FOX Sports 1, "I weighed in upstairs and I was like, 'Man, I'm OK -I'm going to do this.' We figured we had it done, (and) the scale was weighing different".
Though Dana White did say that Buffalo proved itself worthy of hosting a UFC PPV again in the future, one has to wonder if, after what happened on Saturday night, the city's fans will view the UFC worthy of their money again?
In his post-fight interview with colour commentator Joe Rogan, Rumble explained his decision to retire, suggesting that he'd found another job, not related to MMA. "I'm exhausted of getting punched by guys and rolling on the ground with guys".
Cynthia Calvillo is a heavy favorite over Pearl Gonzalez, though the fight was pulled off the main card Friday morning.
"I like Corey Anderson but you just beat Corey Anderson. I feel no stress, no pressure". From there, he locked in a rear-naked choke and Johnson submitted. I just want to thank you all for being there for me.
When it was announced he made 205, everyone was aghast and his team whooped it up like they had won a rematch over Jon "Bones" Jones.
Charles Oliveira defeated Will Brooks via submission.
