Dacoits target Delhi-Patna Rajdhani Express in Bihar; loot passengers

In a daring robbery, a gang on Sunday morning at a gunpoint looted passengers of cash and valuables and assaulted some of them aboard the prestigious New Delhi-Patna Rajdhani Express in Bihar's Buxar district. "It has been reported that at Gahmar station, the signal failed from 3.20 am to 3.55 am".

Meanwhile, railway police have been informed of the incident and a probe has been launched. A police source said that a coach attendant suspected by the passengers has been taken into custody and one sub-inspector and six constables, had been placed under suspension following the incident. Unauthorized passengers were not allowed to board Rajdhani Express midway as per railway rules, sources said. Sanjay Paswan, attendant of the A4 coach, was also arrested after an FIR was lodged at the Patna GRP station on the statement of the victims.

Dacoits thrashed the passengers before stealing valuables from three coaches of the express train and leaving three people injured. Around two minutes later, he tweeted again: "Directed Chairman Rail take up with chief secy Bihar, Dacoits who attack passengers on trains, law & order very imp issue".

He said rail police authorities had also been requested to check recordings of CCTV cameras fitted at Mughalsarai railway station as criminals might have boarded the train at the station.

A case has been registered on the basis of the complaint and investigation is underway.

The passengers told the police that the robbers boarded the train somewhere between Mughalsarai and Buxar.
