Bill Clinton meets George H. W. Bush, gifts socks

"And socks", Clinton tweeted, sharing a picture of the surprise gift as Bush sat in a wheelchair.

The way to former President George H.W. Bush's heart may be through socks. "And socks", according to a tweet from the 42nd president on Sunday.

The insider said Clinton spent about two hours at the Bushes' home in Houston for lunch, a visit the Arkansas native tries to make annually.

Bush has made waves in foot fashion in recent years, often sporting creative designs - including Superman-themed socks - while using a motorized scooter for mobility.

Earlier this year, Bush oversaw the coin toss at Super Bowl LI shortly after being released from the hospital after being treated for pneumonia. "I am rooting hard for you", Bush wrote. Bush seems to have earned himself a reputation, with people across the country taking to Twitter to express solidarity with the former president and his socks.

Clinton once said that he and the man he defeated in the 1992 election had embarked on seven humanitarian trips together, admitting 'it was an odd couple partnership'.

Bush has sported multiple pairs of trendy socks in the past.
