Politics pierces the nostalgia at Rock Hall of Fame induction

Journey's Steve Perry briefly reunited on stage with his former bandmates for the first time publicly in 12 years to accept their induction into the Hall of Fame.
Pearl Jam played a three-song set of "Alive" (with Ten-era drummer Dave Krusen behind the kit), "Given to Fly" and "Better Man".
The 69-year-old television personality joins inductors Snoop Dogg (Tupac Shakur), Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush (Yes), Jackson Browne (Joan Baez), Train's Pat Monahan (Journey) and Dhani Harrison (ELO). "We would not be here had it not been for you and your tireless love and consistent devotion".

"It was a real act of faith to jump in those shoes", Cain said.
"Let us build a bridge, a great bridge, a handsome bridge to once again welcome the exhausted and the poor", Baez said, juxtaposing lines from Trump and the immigrant-welcoming poem on the Statue of Liberty. Fans who can't make it to the Induction ceremony in NY or the sold out simulcast at the Rock Hall will be able to watch the Induction ceremony when it airs on HBO later this month.
Pearl Jam closed out the night with a searing all-star jam of Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World".
Berry wasn't the only late legend who was honored: Lenny Kravitz paid tribute to Prince after the "In Memoriam" section with an explosive performance of "When Doves Cry", backed by a choir and beaming purple lights.
Artists are eligible 25 years after their first release, and voted on by fans and experts.
Disco producer Nile Rodgers, the man behind 1970s hits like Le Freak and We Are Family, was presented at the ceremony with a special award for musical excellence. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. ET, so we'll probably have to wait until then to find out.
