A late bloomer at Old Trafford, the 24-year-old established himself in the first-team under Louis van Gaal last season after several loan spells.
Three of those have come at Wembley, with the winger netting the victor in last season's FA Cup final.
Winger Jesse Lingard has signed a new contract at Manchester United which keeps him at the club until June 2021 with the option to extend for a further year, according to a report on the club website.
"What makes me think we are strong is the way opponents play against us".
"He's English and made in the academy, these players are very important for the club".
While Lingard's United career is on an upward trajectory, Adnan Januzaj's appears to be heading in the opposite direction.
While Mourinho was quick to nail down Lingard's future, the same can not be said for Adnan Januzaj, who is on a season-long loan at Sunderland.
In team news, John O'Shea is not available due to a family bereavement while Adnan Januzaj can not face his parent club.
He said: "If you look at Zlatan, why can't the top teams look at Jermain?"
"Jesse has been with the club since the age of seven", he said.
For the visitors, Antonio Valencia and Paul Pogba are expected to start while Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young are ruled out with knocks.
Although United's manager conceded that 1-1 against Everton had been a "bad result", he remained upbeat about his team who, in total, have drawn 10 but not lost any of their past 20 league games.
The Special One's side are now enjoying a 20-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, with a place in the top four - and UEFA Champions League football - top of the manager's agenda.
"I know this because I have watched some of their games during their participation in Europe and I can say they are playing very well and they have very good with players of high quality".
"In the whole season, it happened with so many of us".
Some felt it wasn't the end of the world, and that such a figure is the going rate for a squad player with one of the world's richest clubs. We are not strong enough because we are not winning, we are not good enough to score the goals that we should.
