LeBron James gave the Cavaliers a brief cushion, drilling a 3-pointer to go up by four, but George fired right back, hitting his sixth three of the night. James yelled at Thompson as they were walking to the bench and waved off coach Tyronn Lue when he attempted to calm James' down. As James followed, Thompson turned and pointed at James.
"We got back in transition", Butler said. Then Thompson started barking back. Iman Shumpert and Deron Williams were also close to the fray. "I've been healthy enough and I've had some great teammates that allowed me to get to that point. I had good intentions of what I wanted to happen, but the way it came out, it didn't look good on TV". He talked on the other side of the room while James was still surrounded. "Little miscommunication in the huddle".
In the second overtime we were treated to a continued duel between two of the best small forwards in the league. "So I got to be a lot better at that and be able to keep that in-house in the locker room and when we're watching film", he said.
"Not going to get into it, just miscommunication, like I said. Got the win, on to Orlando". Dallas made six of its first nine 3-point attempts in the final frame, a jumper by Wesley Matthews cutting Memphis' advantage to 94-90 with just over a minute left. Drafted by the Pacers in 2010 and then re-signed as a free agent last week, Stephenson played his first game for in since Game 6 of the 2014 Eastern Conference finals. "It always helps to make shots but we guarded". That's part of the game. So I take full responsibility for that, as the leader of this team. He scored 13 points in the second overtime, including a pair of threes and a three point play, but Cleveland managed to score on eight straight possessions, keeping the scorching George from stealing the win. Obviously, they see that too and we were exactly right target.
LeBron James and Tristan Thompson, as well as Smith, are all represented by the same agent. But, many could commend Thompson for finally standing up to James and his aggressive-on-court behavior. Payton dished out a career-high 15 assists and flirted with a triple-double, getting 12 points and nine rebounds.
Anthony Davis added 19 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks for the Pelicans, who led by as many as 32 en route to their eighth victory in 11 games.
I say "shouting match", but it actually wasn't much of a match at all.
"Well, that shows you that we care about our defense", Lue said. It was my fault. "Blame it on me", he joked. They mostly just need to survive until the real thing begins again.
Smith made a 3-point shot with 2:05 left in the second overtime to put Cleveland ahead to stay at 123-120.
"The readiness, one through 10 - every guy that played contributed", Charlotte coach Steve Clifford said. Tonight, they were shadowing him with a big man, or whoever he was coming off of the screen with. They know they can't post LeBron, so they tried to run him around off a lot of screens to try and wear him down. "He wanted to play and he fought through it". "I think he saw LeBron went down".
"I kind of saw Justin kind of lower his shoulder and knock down Bron", Irving said. "That's a silly question".
