Can Tottenham win the Premier League over Chelsea?

Jan Vertonghen believes Tottenham have demonstrated their title credentials as they battle to overhaul Premier League leaders Chelsea. But City have since gone off the boil. To play against City is not easy because they are a top team.

"It's standard if you are a supervisor for eight or nine years to really have a season where you're not as successful as before, that sometimes happens". I never came in as a manager, either at Barcelona, Bayern Munich or once I arrived here, presuming I understand positively everything. I tried to adapt the players as much as possible.

Teams are now keeping us in mind when they talk about winning the league or finishing in the top four. We won 6-0 but generally it'd be 12-0, that match. We must work harder and more challenging and better and better to minimise these types of stuff.

They ground out a barely deserved 2-1 win over Manchester City on Wednesday just days after crashing to a shock 2-1 home defeat by struggling Crystal Palace.

Having choked last season when they failed to catch champions Leicester City in the closing weeks, Mauricio Pochettino's side are back in the hunt and Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen said: "Chelsea look very strong but we can't stop pushing and dreaming of the league title".

Hull's Abel Hernandez will play a part in the game after being passed fit despite being diagnosed with a dead leg in the midweek win over Middlesbrough. "The confidence we can take going into Saturday stands us in good stead", Francis said. However, Guardiola may pick Aleksandar Kolarov, who is better on the ball, as City will have more of the ball and will need to build up from the back. The Champions League is so important, (qualifying) will be a huge success from my point of view and of course we have the FA Cup.

"At this moment I have a deal with our chairman and it's clear, we have only one focus - to keep the club in the Premier League", Silva said. We started well, created some chances but when we conceded we realized we must improve our level and tempo.

City are fourth in the league following defeat at Chelsea on Wednesday, all but ending hopes of a league title in the Catalan's debut campaign in England.

The six points earned from these two matches saw Marco Silva's side leapfrog the Swans into the safety of 17th spot on the league table.
