Astros fall to Royals

Kansas City finally broke out when a two-run double by Alex Gordon in the eighth inning put the Royals up by four.

Jason Vargas earned his first win in almost two years as the Kansas City Royals beat the Houston Astros 5-1 on Friday. "He didn't say much on the bench, but the results are what they are, and it was just a bad night for him".

BREWERS 2, CUBS 1 (11) Ryan Braun scored from third base on a wild pitch in the 11th inning to give Milwaukee a victory over Chicago.

The Astros had the bases loaded with one out in the fourth after a walk by Carlos Correa and singles by Carlos Beltran and Yuli Gurriel. RBIs: Gordon 2 (4), Cain (1), Hosmer 2 (2), Perez (3), Cuthbert (1), Gonzalez 2 (4), McCann (2).

Keuchel allowed one run on two hits and one walk with four strikeouts in seven innings and was fabulous defensively despite his first error since September 11, 2015.

MARLINS 7, METS 2 Zack Wheeler lasted just four innings in his return from Tommy John surgery, giving up Derek Dietrich's go-ahead, two-run triple and Christian Yelich's two-run home run in New York's loss to Miami.

NOTES: Astros RHP Collin McHugh will be shut down for a minimum of six weeks due to a posterior impingement of his right elbow. Keuchel won his third straight Gold Glove Award, becoming the first Astros player to do so since Craig Biggio won four straight from 1994 to 1997. "And the one play he made the error on, if he wouldn't have slipped, he would have made that play, too".

Brian McCann hit a home run for the Astros who once again struggled on offense going 2-6 with runners in scoring position and leaving 5 men on base. The Astros were hoping McHugh would need only one rehab start before joining the rotation after he started the season on the 10-day DL dealing with what he's calling "dead arm". Jason Vargas came out and shut down the Astros for six innings.

Astros: Right-hander Lance McCullers (1-0) is scheduled to make his second start on Sunday. Eric Hosmer then hit a 2 run homerun followed by a Salvador Perez homerun.
