Alicia Keys performs for Tupac, Twitter reacts

Tupac Shakur was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight (April 7) and Snoop Dogg, his former labelmate and friend, did the honors.

Snoop Dogg gave a amusing and moving speech, discussing his fallen friend and label-mate. He said he attended Friday night's ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to ensure the rapper, actor and poet is remembered as a "strong black man that stood for his". "While many remember him now as some kind of thugged out superhero, Tupac really was only good and he represented through his music like no one before", Snoop began in his speech. Tupac Shakur died in 1996, and is considered one of the most influential rappers ever.

"You will always be the best". "I never told this story", he said. "When he loves, he loves hard", he added.

"That night, Pac passed me my first blunt", he said.

Snoop also recalled a time he went parasailing with Tupac while on vacation in South America - with Suge Knight driving the boat! Also, he shared a story about parasailing with Tupac while Suge Knight piloted the boat that was sweet, hysterical and freaky, and you'll just have to watch the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony on April 29 on HBO to hear about it.

Songs on display included Keys belting out "Ambitionz az a Ridah", "I Get Around", "I Ain't Mad at Cha" and "Dear Mama", while Snoop recreated his and Shakur's hip hop two-hander "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted", with YG taking Shakur's part.

2Pac joins Run-D.M.C., the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five and N.W.A. among hip-hop acts inducted into the Rock Hall.
