This is Westbrook's 7th straight triple-double which he ties the Big O and Michael Jordan for the most consecutive triple-doubles while he's en pace to break Wilt Chamberlain's record of nine and adding his total to 79 career triple doubles, which is 4th all time in National Basketball Association history. The crowd stood and chanted "MVP!" The NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) candidate finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists.
"I was in shock, honestly", Westbrook said. "I am truly honored to do it here in Oklahoma City".
Westbrook will take the court Friday night averaging 31.8 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists.
I'm about to enter uncharted territory, especially as LeBron fan, but Westbrook also hasn't missed a game. "Kind of just sitting there and embracing the moment".
"It's incredible, and he's played his heart out, so I think he deserves it", said Cox, who bought his tickets for this game two months ago. "The opportunity to play is something I'll never take for granted". Westbrook helped push the lead back up to 10 points, and Memphis found themselves in another third quarter rut midway through the period. "We just want the swelling to go down", Fizdale said. Tonight's win, the 2nd win of a back-to-back, is a step in the right direction as the season winds to a close. "It showed that he was sharing the ball, and everybody was benefiting from that".
Enes Kanter scored 17 points for the Thunder, who posted their largest victory margin of the season.
He did not need to score much vs. the Bucks after the Thunder led big after the first quarter, 28-20 and the first half, 63-39.
Milwaukee had been one of the league's hottest teams. Curry scored 19 points. He left the game for good with 2:35 left in the third quarter.
"What he's done is history", Kidd said. But Harrison made the 3. Were outrebounded 53-38.
Even better, Westbrook's memorable night came in a Thunder victory - after his past two triple-doubles came in defeats. According to ESPN Stats and Info, it was the second time this season in which Westbrook has been one rebound shy of a triple-double. Alex Abrines hit 4-of-6 from 3-point range before having to leave with a knee sprain.
Klay Thompson poured in 41 points for the Warriors, who won their 12th straight game.
The game was marred by a shoving match between Indiana's Lance Stephenson and Raptor DeMar DeRozan with 3.3 seconds left.
His second triple-double against the Suns this season - in a 114-101 win in December - featured a career-high 22 assists. This year is no difference as James is averaging 26.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game this season. Is Westbrook's soon to be record season with triple-double's impressive? Yes. He is putting up career bests, and most importantly, doing his job for his team.
