For almost four decades, Arnel Pineda has always wanted to meet Journey's original frontman Steve Perry.
Arnel's journey from a Filipino singer discovered by guitarist Neal Schon via YouTube clips to his audition and early days with the band was the subject of the award winning documentary "Dont Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey". I want to thank the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for inducting this band, finally. "I think we've had the credentials for quite some time, but really it was our fans that.came on full-force and voted like maniacs, and their dedication to us and the music throughout all the years of just standing by us is testimony itself for what's about to happen".
"Hello, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!".
Schon then invited former drummer Aynsley Dunbar and keyboardist Gregg Rolie on stage to perform "Lights" with the band. Alicia Keys paid tribute to him with a medley of his hits on the piano, followed by Snoop Dogg and T.I. rapping.
"I've been gone a long time, I understand that", the ex-Journey singer said.
In his acceptance speech, Perry said: "I must give a complete shoutout to someone who sings his heart out every night, and it's Arnel Pineda". Perhaps it is time to stop believing.

Perry, however, did not perform with Journey following their individual speeches. The other match-ups are as follows: Jackson Browne will induct Joan Baez, Dhani Harrison will salute Electric Light Orchestra, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush will honor Yes, Pat Monahan will sing the praises of Journey, Snoop Dogg will tout Tupac Shakur and Pharrell Williams will fete Nile Rodgers.
