Today, FX confirmed that the legendary singer is going to be appearing over the course of the season in the role of Antonio D'Amico, the longtime partner of Gianni Versace, the famed designer whose murder is the center of the story.
Ricky Martin is the latest addition to a cast that includes Edgar Rarmirez (Vantage Point) as Gianni Versace, Penélope Cruz (Pirates Of TheCaribbean) as his sister Donatella and Darren Criss (Glee, The Flash) as serial killer Andrew Cunanan. On his Glee episode, he played the high school's Spanish teacher. The season will be based on the book Vulgar Favors by Vanity Fair writer Maureen Orth.
Shooting on "Versace: American Crime Story" is set to being later this month and hit airwaves in 2018. The series is executive produced by Murphy, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Simpson, and is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions. He was once a regular on the ABC soap Genera Hospital and more recently starred on Broadway in Evita.
A dedicated global advocate for tolerance via his Ricky Martin Foundation, Martin can be seen in Las Vegas at his residency at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. It will follow the second installment in the franchise, Katrina: American Crime Story. Martin is represented by CAA, managed by Rebecca Drucker and Jose Vega and attorney Garret Glass.
