"But I think most of the impact I have, over time most people will not actually know about".
"How old fashioned... this idea that behind a great man is a great woman. And I was so disappointed by that interview she gave yesterday".
King, addressing last month's Saturday Night Live sketch and a long list of thinkpieces written about Ivanka Trump's faux-feminism, asked, "I've read articles saying you are complicit - that Jared and Ivanka are complicit in what is happening to the White House. You can't have it both ways", Johansson said of Ivanka, who was recently named special assistant to the president. So of course now Ivanka Trump and Scarlett Johansson are in something of a public war of words.
Though, Trump of course didn't address Johansson by name. At the Women's March on Washington in January, she spoke out on key issues, namely women's reproductive rights, that are threatened in this political environment. Though, she also added that she sometimes disagreed with her father, and wasn't afraid to criticize him. I have met her several times in the past, and many years ago, and we both grew up in NY, and we have some friends in common, and she is a very well-spoken and smart, intelligent woman, and I think engaging ... but the whole situation baffles me. She just preferred to keep all of that behind closed doors. "I don't know what it means to be complicit, but you know, I hope time will prove that I have done a good job and much more importantly that my father's administration is the success that I know it will be".
"I can't imagine how complicated it must be to see your parent in this sudden position that he is in, and know deep down, that it is a position that he never really wanted", she told Huffington.
Johansson, speaking at the Women in the World summit in NY on Thursday, said that explanation didn't hold water.
Johansson, who supported Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary past year and spoke at the anti-Trump Women's March in January, went on to say she realised Ivanka Trump was in a very complicated situation and that she had met her several times when they were both younger, finding her to be a smart and engaging woman. Screw that. ... It's so uninspired and actually really cowardly.
However, Johansson did acknowledge that it must be a "unique" and "strange" situation for Ivanka, who she has met several times since they both grew up in NYC.
