Store clerk attacked by man after credit card declined

This is the moment a man has a meltdown at a California 7-Eleven - all because he couldn't buy a bag of M&M's.

Santa Ana police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who attacked a convenience store cashier and damaged equipment after a failed bid to buy candy. Police are now looking for the suspect.

The clerk scans the man's small bag of Almond M&M's, places it to the side and punches a button on the computer.

The customer then swipes his credit card, looks up for a second - apparently entering his pin number - but then shakes his head.

"The employee didn't deny him access to his funds, the bank did", said Bertagna. Suddenly, the suspect lunged, smacked the clerk in the head, then shoved two cash registers off the counter.

He then went on to through other items on the counter, including bananas and another register at the counter.

Police say he caused $700 of damage. Anthony Bertagna wondered to FOX 11. "It doesn't surprise me this happened", he said. The other man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, tan shorts and a red bandana over his face.
