'Smurfs: The Lost Village' - Full Cast List For the Movie!

But while computer animation has made the blues brighter, the faces bolder and the Smurfs' village more vivid, the Smurfs themselves are still as bland as can be.

Featuring a talented array of voice actors including Demi Lovato as Smurfette, Danny Pudi as Brainy, Jack McBrayer as Clumsy and Joe Manganiello as Hefty, audiences will follow the adventurous group on their journey through the Forbidden Forest.

As Smurfette and her friends go searching for a hidden village, director Kelly Asbury ("Gnomeo and Juliet") dutifully focuses on hijinks and misadventures.

At one point in the new "Smurfs: The Lost Village", evil wizard Gargamel (voiced by Rainn Wilson) yells about the Smurfs, "Why won't they just die?" Much of "Smurfs: The Lost Village" consists of wide-eyed encounters with magical creatures (glow-in-the-dark bunnies, literal dragonflies) and smurfy practical jokes (often targeting someone's butt).

April 9, Sunday will give you a golden chance to meet Brainy Smurf and Smurfette in Chennai to cheer you up! But Gargamel's dastardly plot was upended by Papa Smurf, who turned Smurfette into a "real Smurf".

In the 1960s, when the female Smurfette landed in an all-male Smurf village and became such a sexually disruptive force that the men actually put her on trial, few could have imagined that she would become the self-determining heroine of an animated movie more than 50 years later. Meanwhile, Garagmel tries to snatch them at every turn.

The first two "Smurf" films in franchise, in 2011 and 2013, tried to meld the human and Smurfs worlds using live-action and cmputer-generated animation with some success.

Created by the Belgian cartoonist Peyo, the Smurfs started out as a comic strip back in 1958. The film is dedicated to Peyo's wife, Nine, who is attributed with choosing the hue of blue for the Smurfs.

Running time: 91 min.
