Christian Bale to star in Adam McKay's Dick Cheney biopic?

Sources tell the site that Bale would be playing the former Vice President. Laser-assisted soul blackening?-he might employ to get into the character.

Christian Bale is in talks to play Cheney, according to the Hollywood Reporter, while Steve Carell could play Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. McKay began development on the Cheney movie shortly after winning his Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for The Big Short last year year.

The as-yet untitled film will chart Cheney's rise to power, his time as an executive for worldwide conglomerate Halliburton, to his time in the Republican Party and beyond. McKay will produce the film through his Gary Sanchez Productions banner with partners Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick, as well as Plan B's Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner.

After serving in the administrations of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush, Cheney was the CEO of Halliburton Company, from 1995 to 2000.

This isn't the first time Bale was attached to a movie about the George W. Bush administration, as Oliver Stone wanted Bale to play Bush in his 2008 film W. However, the role eventually went to Josh Brolin.

"I've always found Cheney fascinating", McKay told Deadline previously.

McKay previously said he was "astounded at how much [Cheney] had shaped modern America's place in the world and how shocking the methods were by which he gained his power". Are you even interested in a Dick Cheney movie?
