Good weather offers golfers full day of practice ahead of Masters

Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy rounds out the top of the 2017 Masters odds at +800.

On Tuesday at Augusta National, McIlroy was asked how he would explain what some consider a disconnect between his comments regarding Muirfield and decision to play golf with Trump. He's well aware that without an improved performance on the greens he won't be where he wants to be when the weekend hits.

Ranked No. 6 in the world and still only 23 years old, Spieth has answered every question over the past year about his historic collapse with a veteran's maturity.

Looking like he'd rather be somewhere else, Johnson did get some laughs when he said he realised he could be the best player in the world.

Conversations paused under the oak tree next to Augusta National's clubhouse Tuesday morning when Johnson sauntered toward the tee for another practice round.

Dustin Johnson is the current world number one in the rankings.

As for the additional pressure he faces being such a favorite?

"I've spent time in President Trump's company before and that does not mean that I agree with everything he says".

"I think we're on the same page". There's plenty of reason to be hyped for the event this year, as the top stars are ready to battle for the green jacket after an exciting Sunday last year. However, after dropping shots on the 10th and 11th, Spieth hit two balls into Rae's Creek on the par-three 12th and ran up a quadruple-bogey seven, with Danny Willett taking full advantage with a closing 67 to win by three shots.

Scott missed the cut in Texas, following up an opening round of 68 with a 77 to miss out by one shot.

Typical of his career, the rise began with a fall.

That's when he finally bought into what the Harmons - Butch Harmon and his son, Claude - had been suggesting. It didn't take long for him to figure that out.

"I heard he had switched to a fade, and then I saw it", Zach Johnson said. There was spin. There was trajectory control.

He achieved that position with his win at the 2017 Genesis Open in February.

And he really hasn't slowed since.

"When Tiger stopped playing", Johnson joked. He's shown that he can play and compete with the best. For me, it drives me to practice more and to continue to work on my game and continue to try to get better so I can stay there. "He just couldn't take it any more".

"I know everybody makes mistakes", Johnson said.

"Yeah, I'm working hard on trying to make that turnaround and, again, if I could get a little bit closer this week, I'd be happy". "But I've got to do the best job I can with what I've got".

"I'm a complete p***k in the week leading up to Augusta", McIlroy told The Telegraph. There's probably not a player in the 84-strong field, either, that would begrudge seeing him in a Green Jacket on Sunday night because of that.

"It's exciting to be here playing The Masters, no matter who you are".

Day, understandably, putting his golf game on hold to support mom, Dening. Same goes for this week. You're going to have to putt it well.
