Also announced with the service are Twitch Crates, which can be earned when you spend $4.99 Dollars or more for a game or in-game item/s.
The game-streaming server had already announced plans to launch a digital PC games store, but now, it's finally unveiling the experience. As previously reported, 5% of the sales will go to partnered streamers.
Games or in-game items that cost U.S. $4.99 or more will earn consumers a Twitch Crate, which includes randomly generated rewards like emotes, badges, and Bits for Cheering. As a reward for those actually spending money, anyone buying a game or DLC costing more than $4.99 will receive a free Twitch Crate with randomly-selected Twitch microtransaction rewards.
Some games will need additional elements to play, such as the UPlay client for Ubisoft-branded games or a linked account for online-heavy games like Warframe, but otherwise work similar to buying a game from any other digital storefront.
Several fit-for-a-wide-audience titles are on sale, such as several of Telltale's episodic series, the recently released Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands, and all three Jackbox Party Packs - the latter being excellent party games actively designed with streaming in mind. "From now through the end of early May, each time you make a purchase that qualifies for a Twitch Crate, you earn an invitation for a chance to win some sweet gaming and streaming gear". One can also enter without making a purchase. (You can also go for a "no purchase required" entry right here.) Games available through Twitch are now only priced in U.S. dollars, but Twitch aims to bring in "localized purchase experiences" soon.
