Field Yates of ESPN.com reports that the complex has emerged as a favorite to host the draft in 2018. Dallas is apparently leading the competition to host.
The Dallas area has reportedly emerged as a favorite to host the National Football League draft in 2018. The NFL decided that it was time to move the draft around and let fans around the country get a taste of the action.
A two-year stint in various cities has also been floated, ever since Chicago held the last two events. Philadelphia is also a contender for the 2018 draft while Kansas City and Green Bay are considered longshots to host it.
The NFL likely won't decide the host of the 2018 draft until this year's draft is complete. The NFL liked the result and made a decision to let it bounce around every year, giving cities the chance to bid for the right to host, just like they do with the Olympics. From 1965 to 2014, it was held in NY.
NY is not in the running for the 2018 draft, ESPN reported, citing an unidentified source.
Moving the draft outside of NY opened up the possibility for the event to be held in other cities, Estis said.
