India beat Australia to win series

India successfully chased 106-run target to clinch the final Test match and the four-match series against Australia at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) stadium here on Tuesday in Dharamsala. "If you give them a sniff, they will take that", the Australian skipper said.

Steve Smith's side threatened to complete Australia's second test series win in India since 1969 after shocking the top-ranked side during the series opener in Pune. The third Test ended in a draw.

After losing the first Test, the hosts came back in the second Test.

As a result, they led the match by 32 runs and it seemed that Australia could score huge runs in second innings but in 3rd day of the match, the ground was completely turned to bowling favoured and Aussie batsmen could not stand in front of the Blues spin. On Monday footage indicated he called Murali Vijay a "cheat" for wrongly claiming a catch. The First innings of Australia scored 300 with Smith's century.

A couple of early appeals were ignored but the Australians chipped away at the uphill task when Cummins got the wicket of Vijay for eight.

Cummins found Vijay's edge with one which left him then Glenn Maxwell threw out the middle stump at the non-striker's end after a frightful mix-up between Pujara and Rahul.

But the risky Rahul remained. But then, Rahane walked out and wanted to finish the game in a flurry.

Cummins, insisting with the short ball, was punished with two consecutive sixes from Rahane - including a sensational cut - to cement a 2-1 series win.

India had gone into the home series against Australia needing to win one Test to guarantee their No. 1 ranking.

It was his sixth 50 in the series. He hit two sixes and breezed to 36 off 20 balls.

"I love to play my shots, dominate the spinners, but I had to play a different game". I have sort of been very intense in my own little bubble and at times I have let my emotions and actions just falter a little bit throughout this series and I apologise for that.

"Here I took a few knocks on the body".

"I'm really happy as a captain". That motivated me and I told myself, "If I can respond to him with runs, it will be great".

Rahul had special praise for the 23-year-old Cummins, who is making a comeback to Test cricket after almost six years in the wilderness.
