And while Samsung is eager to tout a number of new features it has built into its new Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus phones, it's their large and unconventional displays that are bound to have the biggest impact on their reception.
At Samsung's S8 event in NY on Wednesday, the company promoted its phone desktop adapter, the DeX, by noting that Microsoft had updated its Office apps for Android to work properly with the new feature.
Samsung has also finally introduced its Microsoft Continuum-like feature, Samsung DeX, which will allow users to use the smartphone like a computer by docking it to monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
It's the first Samsung model to be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip.
With powerful performance and connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are certified by the UHD Alliance as the Mobile HDR Premium. While both of these are aboard the S8/S8 Plus, the one demonstrated in the video below is clearly the face recognition feature, which is way less secure than either the iris or the fingerprint scanner. Bixby also got a dedicated button on the left-hand side of the phone below the volume buttons.
Instead, Samsung improved the camera of the Galaxy S8 with some internal tweaks that mean you're getting a better photographs thanks to enhanced software.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will be available on Microsoft Store locations and top mobile carriers like AT&T, MetroPCS, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless. However we should note that during our briefing of the Galaxy S8, someone tried to trick the phone using a photo and it did not work, so your mileage may vary. In any case, if there's any truth to this rumor, we'll start seeing information about the device surface in the near future, so stay tuned for that.
The Galaxy S8 has a 3,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S8 Plus boasts a 3,500mAh battery.
