Wenger clarifies Sanchez's latest comments on future

The future of Alexis Sanchez looks set to be the enduring transfer saga of the summer already.

Asked about Arsenal losing their top stars in the past, he replied: "That is true that it happened before when we were in positions where we had to sell financially our best players". "But that's not the case any more". The Spanish keeper had signed a two-year contract in 2015 with a one-year extension but is exploring his options further and would welcome a move to the Premier League.

"It's vitally important Arsenal keep Sanchez".

He told Publimetro: "I'm happy in London and I hope to finish my contract at Arsenal".

Reminding people of his calibre, he said: 'People know what I have achieved, that I am a World Cup victor, played for Real Madrid, set up 20 goals last season.

And Wenger thinks his key man his happy in north London.

Still on Twitter, Rios questioned if staying in London would mean that Sanchez could be joining Chelsea.

'I am 28, I still have a lot in front of me.

'I think personally he's happy here. We have not extended his contract yet, but I hope he will stay at the club. "The interpretation is not always correct".

Sanchez is reportedly on the Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich's radar.
