Shiv Sena MP Gaikwad roughed up Air India duty manager

Taking an account of the incident, Delhi Police on Friday registered an First Information Report (FIR) against Ravindra Gaikwad following a complaint by Air India and its staff member.

"Air India is examining creation of no-fly list of unruly passenger on the lines of other carriers", a senior airline official said.

Gaikwad's return ticket from Delhi to Pune on Thursday was cancelled, according to reports. Vistara, another airline, also moved to ban the MP, which means he will now likely have to take the train back to Maharashtra.

"Disruptive and abusive behaviour by passengers is a serious issue and can not be tolerated, both for safety and security reasons in a critical and sensitive industry such as aviation, as well for the safety and well-being of our staff and all other passengers".

"We have not banned the MP".

The national carrier has filed two FIRs against the MP, known for his strong-arm tactics, while Shiv Sena has sought an explanation from him.

Gaikwad has said that he was told that for a year they have been operating all economy class flights so why would they charge any flier for business class. "How can they not let me travel when I have a booking and I am their passenger".

Meanwhile, AI's no-nonsense chairman Ashwani Lohani late on Thursday night said in a Facebook post: "One MP assaulted an Air Indian at Delhi just because the aircraft did not have executive class. As a mother, I teach children not to misbehave with people", Mahajan said.

Gaikwad said: 'He said "I will complain to (Indian Prime Minister Narendra) Modi", so I hit him.

"I will not apologize". It was not my fault, it was his fault.

The Air India duty manager Shivkumar, who was assaulted by Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad, said he had never expected such a thing to happen.

"I will not apologise, he (Air India staff) must come to me and apologise".

I am a Shiv Sena MP and will not tolerate any insult. "So, this time I lost my cool", he added. Mr Gaikwad also tried to throw him out from the aircraft and was stopped by other AI staff.
