"Kyrgios and Zverev are very exciting players, two of the most exciting players we have on tour now", he said.
Federer had a battle with Bautista Agut, and seemed to enjoy himself.
The last of the quarter-finals at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event pits Australian No.12 seed Nick Kyrgios against German No.16 seed Alexander Zverev, with the victor earning a semi-final showdown with Federer.
The Argentine had a chance to turn things around when he had a break point when down 4-3 in the second set, but Federer held firm and wrapped up the match in one hour and 22 minutes.
Roger Federer took a look around as he entered the stadium court at the Miami Open, immediately feeling the energy of the crowd. I'm not going to think about it too much at the moment. He's 19 years old, so I've got a couple of years on him as well. "That's normal when you're younger and still trying to figure everything out, what their best surface is, how they need to play against certain player types".
"I guess you get better over time handling pressure", Federer said. In the victory, Federer won 71 percent of his first serve points and 56 percent of his second serve points. Both a real nice backhand, and the belief, so that makes them just very tough to play in any given match.
Zverev saved four of five break points and won 75 per cent of his service points.
These two have played once in the past, which was in the 2015 Madrid Masters, a match Kyrgios won in three sets. That's what I've always tried to explain to people, that I do feel that I have improved. "I played well in the second and third [sets]", Zverev said.
Berdych beat France's Adrian Mannarino 6-3 and 7-5 on Tuesday. "Tomas really stepped it up and it was a great match at the end but one guy had to win".
Federer has reached the semifinals at Miami for the first time since 2011.
Nishikori - a finalist at Key Biscayne a year ago - rallied from a break down in the final set to beat Federico Delbonis 6-3 4-6 6-3.
Pliskova ended the hopes of Croat veteran Mirjana Lucic-Baroni with a 6-3, 6-4 win while Wozniacki made sure there would be no all-Czech semi-final by dispatching Lucie Safarova 6-4. 6-3.
Rafa Nadal beat Nicolas Mahut 6-4 7-6 and faces American Jack Sock, who was a 6-2 6-1 victor against compatriot Jared Donaldson.
The 6-2 3-6 7-6 (8-6) victory came a day after Nadal booked a semi-final berth against Italian world No.40 Fabio Fognini, who upset Japan's Kei Nishikori.
