Play Ms. Pac-Man in Google Maps This April Fools' Day

Niantic showed us only the beginnings of what AR games in Google Maps are capable of - I'd like to see more. Google never seems to disappoint, and this year is no exception.

Starting now until April 4, you can chomp fruit, avoid ghosts, and collect PAC-Dots along city streets in Google Maps worldwide-all as Ms. PAC-Maps.

Go to Google Maps right now and you can play a game (or several) of Ms. Pac-Man, the classic arcade game and follow-up to the popular Pac-Man.

Google Maps has included El Paso roads in this year's version of their game... Go to the side menu of the app, tap on "Your places" and then enter the addresses you need most often.

Either way, Ms Pac-Man is controlled by swiping on the touchscreen. Really, the only way this could be better is if you could configure it to blast Pac-Man Fever to the phones around you as you play.

There are reports that the Android version of Google Maps will take you to a random location to play. The cool thing about the game is Ms. Pac-Man can move in diagonal or circular paths, which is an odd, if a little amusing sight.

Some April Fools' Day jokes are just cruel, but this one is just fun.

The game should also work on your desktop Google Maps but may not have rolled out to everyone yet. Google will probably keep the Ms. Pac-Man functionality enabled through tomorrow, so play up while you can.

Players get five lives, but if you run out, you can just start over.
