James scored his 28,597th career point to pass O'Neal during last night's Cleveland Cavaliers' loss to the Chicago Bulls.
The Cavs return to The Q for a three-game homestand, beginning on Friday night against the Philadelphia 76ers.
LeBron and Co. have lost three in a row, five of seven, have gone 6-9 since March 1 and are 19-20 since January 1 - not exactly trending in the right direction heading into the postseason. The Bulls completed the season sweep of the Cavs (4-0), and their playoff hopes got a slight boost.
James finished with a team-high 26 points and passed Shaquille O'Neal for seventh on the NBA's all-time scoring list.
Nikola Mirotic tied season highs with six 3-pointers and 28 points as the Bulls dumped the Cleveland Cavaliers, 99-93.
Kevin Love added 18 points and J.R. Smith made four 3-pointers as the Cavs won their ninth straight over the Sixers.
Up three after a lackluster first quarter, Cleveland outscored Philadelphia 38-23 in the second to take a 70-52 lead at intermission and never looked back. He's been doing this for years, so it's no surprise."Cleveland entered the night ranked 25th in points allowed per game (23.7) to that position and 22nd in defensive efficiency against them.Too many 3's - How is it that the Bulls - a team that ranks 27th in 3-point percentage and dead last in made triples - keep having enormous success against the Cavs?On Thursday, it started with Rondo".
The Cavs are now a half game behind the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference standings. All of a sudden that 11-point Bulls deficit was a seven-point Bulls lead heading into the final frame. "We had a lot of energy". We're just in a bad spot. Tell me all you want about the '96 Bulls, but that team lost sometimes.
Move over Jordan and Pippen, the greatest duo in Bulls history is Jimmy Butler and Rizzoli from Rizzoli & Isles. Robert Covington is averaging 12.9 points and 6.5 rebounds while Dario Saric is averaging 12.9 points and 2.2 assists. We needed to play well. As of now, the team still have two more back-to-back games left, which would include tomorrow's game against the Sixers.
"I'm concerned in so far as I'd like to see us start to actually act on the things we know we need to do", Griffin said.
While March is done, James won't spend any time fretting over a 17-game stretch as bad as any in his career.
"You just don't click your heels and jump into the National Basketball Association playoffs", he said. "I just don't think the concentration for as close to 48 minutes is there yet, which is unfortunate". If one of them misses an extended period of time in the playoffs or has a few off games against a quality opponent, Cleveland could really struggle to score.
