Wozniacki beats second seed Pliskova to reach Miami final

The part-time Miami resident rallied past second-seeded Karolina Pliskova 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 on Thursday, meaning the No. 12 seed will play in Saturday's championship match against either No. 10 Johanna Konta or No. 11 Venus Williams.

She broke the Czech in the third set's opening game and won 82 percent of her first serve points to steamroll in the third set and reach the Miami final for the first time in her career. Victory in the final y would send her to No.8 in the world.

The 12 seeded Dane moves on to play the victor of Venus Williams and Johanna Konta. Konta and Williams play Thursday night.

Wozniacki then double faulted to give the Czech a break point, which she took before serving out for the set.

"It's extremely special", said Wozniacki, who has been a courtside spectator at some Miami Heat games in recent years. "Having two or three set points in that first set and ending up losing it is kind of depressing, but I got a good start to the second set and that got me fired up and I just kept playing".

Wozniacki dropped a gruelling, 62-minute opening set against the tournament second seed before turning on the style to secure a 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 success. In February, Wozniacki was beaten by Pliskova in the Doha final and by Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in Dubai. I can't be too disappointed but obviously I am disappointed to lose two semi-finals especially when I think I could have won both matches.
