During an interview on CBS This Morning, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan made a false statement about House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes's source being a "whistleblower type person", which is a reason for an independent investigation into the role of the Speaker in the effort to cover-up the Russian Federation scandal.
Those documents have still not been produced for lawmakers by the relevant agency, Ryan said.
Meanwhile, tax reform measures will be done as a collaborative effort between the House Finance Committee, Congress, and the White House, said Ryan, even though a spokesman has said the White House is driving the effort.
There is no legal definition of a whistle blower type person.
In an interview that aired on CBS This Morning Thursday, Ryan discussed his interaction with Trump following a tweet the president sent out encouraging his followers to watch Jeanine Pirro's show on Fox News Saturday night. Ryan said he himself has not seen the documents. "He - I already knew he was going to go and brief".
"I think he put his objectivity in question, at the very least", Graham said on NBC's "Today" show.
Ryan said the wall money would come during next year's finance appropriations, and that defunding Planned Parenthood would be easier to achieve through a bill going through a reconciliation process in the Senate.
Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the committee, and other panel Democrats have said Nunes needs to recuse himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the election in response to the incident.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Wednesday after he was asked about Nunes, 'He is the chairman. It is up to the House of Representatives and the Speaker and the members of the House Republican Conference to determine.
Nunes, who was a member of Trump's transition team after the November 8 election, told reporters on Tuesday that the House panel's investigation was moving forward.
"I don't like what Nunes did, going down in the White House, seeing somebody nobody else saw".
