Ravichandran Ashwin, Murali Vijay set to miss IPL 10

India and Kings XI Punjab opener Murali Vijay is likely to miss the 2017 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), as per reports on Friday. However, with latest reports emerging, it seems like more Indian players are likely to miss out, and big guns like Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay will be missing out for the entire tournament, reports Wisden India. Ashwin, who is suffering from sports hernia, underwent scans in Mumbai after the final Test of the India-Australia series in Dharamsala.

Ashwin's absence will be badly missed by Rising Pune Supergiants. He was replaced by Glenn Maxwell for this edition.

Australia captain Steve Smith has successfully defended his number-one position and is now 61 points ahead of his New Zealand opposite number, Kane Williamson, who has moved up two places to second following his 176 in the Hamilton Test. During the period, Ashwin bowled 738.2 overs - the most ever by a bowler in a Test season - and picked up a record 82 wickets.

He has taken an astounding 81 wickets this season, highest by any Indian bowler, and also contributed handsomely in bulk of India's 10 Test victories.

Rahul's injury comes after RCB captain Virat Kohli also hinted that he might be out for few weeks due to a shoulder injury he suffered during the third Test in Ranchi.

Ashwin, a key member of the Indian team across all formats, will be required 100 percent fit during the upcoming Champions Trophy starting June 1.
