N Korea missile launch flops

A North Korean missile appeared to have exploded just after it was launched on Wednesday, the US and South Korean militaries said after detecting the latest in a series of weapons tests by the nuclear-armed state that have alarmed the region.

Allies South Korea and the U.S. are now engaged in an annual joint military training on the Korean peninsula, which every year sparks increased aggressiveness by the North, which sees the drills as a precursor to an invasion.

It said it was analysing what type of missile North Korea launched.

North Korea has made preparations for yet another missile test within the coming days, United States officials have told Fox News.

An official briefed on the probe told Reuters Wednesday that the Federal Bureau of Investigation believes North Korea is responsible for the heist, while Richard Ledgett, deputy director of the U.S. National Security Agency, publicly suggested on Tuesday that North Korea may be linked to the incident.

The launch comes a day after Kim Jong Un's regime issued an ominous warning of a potential pre-emptive strike after a test over the weekend of a new advanced rocket engine.

Two US defense officials told CNN the engine could possibly be used in an eventual intercontinental ballistic missile, but it was unclear if that was its eventual objective.

Security experts worry the flurry of launches could indicate new advancements in North Korea's missile programs in tandem with its nuclear weapons program.

On Wednesday, Japan said that North Korea had again attempted a ballistic missile test.

The Pyongyang official said his country has nothing to fear from any threats by the usa that it will broaden sanctions.

Snaps from the secretive state's recent ballistic missile launches are shown alongside the haunting message: "A knife will be stabbed into the throat of the carrier". "It is because of these hostile activities on the part of the US and South Korea".

Choe declined to give technical details of North Korea's latest rocket engine test on Sunday - seen as a possible prelude to a partial ICBM flight - calling it a great historical event that would lead to "fruitful outcomes".

South Korean F-15K and KF-16 fighter jets flew alongside the U.S. Air Force's B-1B strategic bomber in South Korea's Air Defense Identification Zone, South Korea's KBS radio reported Wednesday. The ICBM component to the North Korean nuclear weapons program is very important because it allows them to threaten nations such as the U.S.by being able to strike anywhere such as NY or the White House.

South Korea has been engaged in multiple military exercises with the United States to increase its readiness to counter North Korea, with Seoul and Washington saying the exercises are entirely defensive in nature.

The bipartisan legislation, co-sponsored by Ranking Member Eliot Engel (D-NY), Asia and the Pacific Subcommittee Chairman Ted Yoho (R-FL) and Ranking Member Brad Sherman (D-CA), says North Korea's nuclear arsenal poses a growing and urgent threat to the United States.

State Department spokesman Mark Toner told reporters Monday that North Korea was "a theme throughout his trip, and how do we address it going forward".
