Senator Schumer Calls Out Trump Supporter at Upper East Side Restaurant

The senator was dining with friends at Sette Mezzo when he confronted Joseph A. Califano Jr. - the former US secretary of health, education and welfare under President Jimmy Carter - and his wife, Hilary, who were trying to enjoy a quiet dinner.

Witnesses also told the Post that Schumer repeatedly called Trump a "liar" during his alleged tirade.

Chuck Schumer, Democtat, New York, said that President Donald Trump did nothing to reach out to Democrats on the health care law the GOP sought to pass.

A Schumer spokesperson told the Post that witness accounts of his conversation with Califano were entirely overblown, however.

Hilary Califano confirmed the confrontation to Page Six. He's our senator, and I don't really like him, ' she told the Post.

As soon as Schumer found out that lifelong-Democrat Hilary Califano voted for Trump, he completely lost his cool.

'I should have told him that Hillary Clinton was a liar, but I was so surprised I didn't say anything'.

But another restaurant patron disputed the story and said it was nothing more than a pleasant conversation. "He's a liar!' He kept repeating, 'He's a liar!'"

It looks like President Trump is trying to make peace with the Democratic party. "The conversation continued outside because everyone left at the same time".

And Schumer's office added: "There were no heated exchanges with ‎anyone".

Democrats have shown united opposition to the GOP's efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare, and are rallying to oppose Mr. Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch, saying the president didn't bother to get Democrats' input before making the pick.
