Micromax launches its new flagship smartphone, Dual 5 at Rs 24999

The home-grown smartphone company Micromax, known for its budget friendly devices, has finally entered the premium segment, with the launch of its new smartphone with a dual rear camera module. But that's not all. The smartphone comes with a military grade CC EAL5+ chip which stores fingerprint data and passwords under heavy encryption.

On the security front, this phone incorporates fingerprint scanner on the back with response time of 0.35 seconds. And not just that.

Micromax Dual 5 is packed with 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with 2.5D curved display.

Beneath the display, lies Qualcomm's Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 510 for graphic rendering backed up by 4GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage.

Apart from this, Micromax's Dual 5 comes with a user configurable button on the left edge of the device which users can set to launch practically any service on the phone, even using it as the camera's shutter button. Of the two, one is monochrome sensor and the other is RGB sensor that can capture more light and colours. Other camera options include Sony sensors, f/1.8 aperture, 4K video recording. The device is LTE enabled and integrated graphics with 64-BIT processor. The storage can be expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. "We aim to increase our ASP by 20% in the year to come with new launches planned in Rs. 10K+, Rs. 15k+ and Rs 20K+ category".

Micromax DUAL 5 is available at Rs. 24,999/-. So when a SIM card is removed, the phone will immediately prompt user to unlock the phone, failing which the phone will be remotely wiped. The company has also built-in a safe switch technology for theft, self-destruct and hack attempts in the phone.

Micromax is rolling out Bajaj Finance's EMI scheme for Dual 5 and extended to other products in the Dual series.

Meanwhile the company is also planning to garner 10 percent market share of the premium smartphone category (Rs 20K+) in the year 2017.
