Dragic, Heat roll to 105-88 victory over Knicks

Despite declaring weeks ago that his team would most likely miss the playoffs, head coach Jeff Hornacek still appeared to treat the game like it was a must-win. The Knicks will miss the playoffs for the fourth season straight, and there really isn't any reason to put their starters at risk.

Carmelo said changing his game late in his career is a challenge. This was the first time since 2012 Melo had been scoreless in the first half of a game.

"I don't know my role to be honest", Anthony, who scored nine points in 29 minutes, said.

"I don't think me going out there, trying to score 30 and 40 every night and playing that way is going to help them out at this point".

The Knicks were officially eliminated from Eastern Conference playoff contention after Wednesday night's loss, as they continue to underachieve and deal with injury woes throughout the 2016-17 season.

Anthony, in his fourth straight year out of the postseason, has put up his typical numbers (22.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists) this season, but admitted it's hard to play on a team out of it for such a long stretch.

When pressed on what he meant, Anthony added, "I'm just here to help the guys and get them positive and motivated". The Heat took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by James Johnson with 3:38 left and ended the half with a 3-point shot by Richardson with 3.6 seconds left.

"We didn't expect this, " Porzingis said.

Heat point guard Goran Dragic led the way for Miami in a well-balanced effort, going off for a team-high 20 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and two steals.

The Knicks were down 14 in the third, cut it to four before falling behind by 77-68 after three quarters.

Carmelo Anthony says he's "at peace" with taking on a lesser role, letting younger players get more burn, as the Knicks wind down their bitterly disappointing season.

The NBA's independent medical expert determined that Joakim Noah was physically able to play, allowing his 20-game suspension for violating the league's anti-drug policy to begin with Wednesday's game. Noah can practice and travel with the team but must vacate the arena two hours before the opening tip.
