The Los Angeles Clippers beat the Washington Wizards 133-124 on Wednesday night, but there was more than just the win to talk about.
The backcourt combination of Wall and Bradley Beal combined for 68 points. After Wednesday's action, the Clips are still two games back in the loss column to the Jazz in the race for fourth in the West, but they do hold the tiebreaker. They converted on 27 (the Wizards shot 19-for-29, 65.5 percent), giving them a considerable edge on the night. "The other night, we didn't make any". And while the Clippers have won tough playoff series, as Redick said, against San Antonio two years ago, Golden State in 2014 and Memphis in 2012, they also blew a 3-1 series lead in 2015 against Houston and lost as a No. 4 seed in the first round last year. "You hate that it's this late in the season, but we're one of the few teams that can get it right", point guard Chris Paul insisted to reporters.
In Wizards, John Wall accepted the duel with Chris Paul, and the Wizards' base scored a whopping 41 points, and garnered 7 rebounds and 8 assists, pulling nearly 70% of success in another huge performance of field goals. CP3 and Wall scored 15 and 20 points respectively, although Paul had joined several players, such as Redick or DeAndre Jordan.
"You would hope you had a back-to-back in that situation to kind of get that taste out of your mouth", Jamal Crawford said.
It was a rare moment of levity for the frustrated Clippers (44-31), who with seven games remaining in the regular season are coming face-to-face with their reality.
Blake Griffin collected 26 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, while DeAndre Jordan finished with 23 points and 18 boards for the Clippers.
Are the Wizards a good underdog play for bettors tonight against the Clippers at 10:30PM ET? The 137 total points in the first half were the most in a Washington game this season. They scored that number on December 10 against New Orleans, Chris Paul's 20-point, 20-assist game, and on March 21 against the Lakers.
The dominance of the Clippers continued latent after the break, getting to flirt with the twenty points of advantage. The Clippers are 3-0 against the Suns.
