ABC turns back on Time

As far as time travel premises go, Time After Time's wasn't without potential.

In today's bad news, we'll never get to see H.G. Wells and Jack the Ripper kiss - sorry, I mean, we'll never get to see H.G. Wells figure out how to catch Jack the Ripper in 21st-century America.

ABC in the USA has cancelled its fledgling sci-fi drama Time After Time following just five episodes of its planned eight-episode debut season. It will be replaced in the Sunday night scheduled by the Alec Baldwin-hosted celebrity gameshow Match Game.

"Time After Time" wasn't doing so well in terms of ratings. Over four weeks, it has averaged a 0.5 in the demo and 2.2 million viewers.

The move effectively cancels the new series. According to Deadline, there are no plans to air future episodes.

Are you disappointed to hear that ABC has pulled the plug on Time After Time after only five episodes and that there are now no plans in place to roll out the remaining episodes of its freshman season?

Meanwhile, Genesis Rodriguez, who plays Jane Walker on the show, claims that she was never informed that the series was cancelled by ABC.

In her review of "Time After Time" for Variety this month, Sonia Saraiya wrote, "The studied shallowness of "Time After Time's" approach to violence makes for a sickening dynamic that attempts to cheaply humanize a serial killer". Still, we'll miss a shirtless Bowman.
