Asked about the meeting on Sunday, BJP leader from Rajkot Raju Dhruv said, "It is premature to decide who will be our star campaigners". Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari will lead the campaign. A large chunk of Delhi's population belongs to these states.
Asserting that this matter is not just restricted to Uttar Pradesh, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said this has happened in the past too.
According to Delhi BJP vice-president Rajiv Babbar, based on the demands of the party workers, the state unit has prepared a list of 42 star campaigners and sent it to the central leadership, seeking approval. "This is mini-India. We have prepared the list after proper research".
Actress-turned-politician and the saffron party's MP from Mathura Hema Malini will also campaign in the election for the 272 wards of the three municipal corporations in the national capital, which is expected to witness a three-pronged contest among the BJP, AAP and Congress.
Apart from Yogi and Rawat, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, Chhattishgarh CM Raman Singh, Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das and Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal figure in the list. "Modi wave itself is enough", Pandya said.
Senior party leaders Kalraj Mishra, Smriti Irani, Radha Mohan Singh, Giriraj Singh, Sanjiv Balyan, Jitendra Singh, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Shahnawaj Hussain, Sambit Patra will also take part in the campaigning among others.
In a video that went viral, students were caught using carbon copies to copy the answer sheets that had been made available to them. "A lot of work is being done to improve the city's infrastructure", said Babbar.
The BJP came to power in a landslide earlier this month, partially due to an election manifesto that promised action after several of its leaders alleged that some abattoirs were clandestinely slaughtering cows.
Surat BJP chief Nitin Bhajiyawala, however, said he had no information on who would be star campaigners for the party in Gujarat.
