'Trading Spaces' is being revived by TLC

Nancy Davis, TLC's president and general manager, took a deep breath and told those in attendance Tuesday that her next announcement was "a big one".

The series' many successful redesigns surely inspired more than a few amateur decorators in its day, but it's the neighborly slip-ups, that left homeowners in stunned silence, awe and sometimes tears that are perhaps the most memorable.

I'm beyond excited for Trading Spaces to return to tv next year.

For those unfamiliar with the show, two neighbors would redecorate a room in each other's home, in only two days with a budget of only $1,000.

TLC has announced it is reviving its re-decorating docu-series Trading Spaces.

Ready for more Trading Spaces? The show was hosted by Paige Davis and launched the television careers of Genevieve Gorder (HGTV's "Dear Genevieve") and Ty Pennington (ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"). News, Trading Spaces on TLC is credited with creating celebrities; not only out of the contractors but of the hosts as well.

It was a pioneering format in the home makeover and renovation genre. Because the show was originally on air in the early 2000s, the decor styles were markedly different from what is popular today.

Davis returned to host the show for its last season in 2008, but her return did little for the show's ratings. "On Monday, news broke that "Cash Cab" is set to return to Discovery, and "Mythbusters" is headed to the Science Channel this year".
