Holland said he was glad to be back at CinemaCon where a year ago he helped reveal the film's title, and Feige confirmed this Spider-Man film is the first that's set entirely while Peter Parker is in high school. However, Venom was reportedly recently assigned a release date of October 5, 2018. So we delved into the comic books for ideas of what a Venom movie might be. We'll let you know when that information surfaces. At the same time, Marvel won't receive a cut of the box office for any of Sony's films that feature Spider-Man. I know R-rated comic adaptations are all the rage right now (and I couldn't be happier) but an R-rated "Spider-Man" movie is nearly too cool to take. I'm not even sure Spider-Man fans are excited about that one, unless they're big fans of those characters.
In the short, a French film crew follows NY reporter Eddie Brock (played by True Blood's Ryan Kwanten) and discovers that his investigation isn't just for journalistic purposes. Of course, because we are in the post Deadpool age, this will be R-Rated.
Pascal continued, saying that "Sony, and Disney, and Marvel all decided that the right thing to do was to allow Peter Parker and Spider-Man to be in the MCU and to work with the Marvel guys and have them produce this film". We've seen the likes of Flash Thompson and others as Venom, so there's no telling what Sony has in store.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" has a July 7, 2017 release directed by Jon Watts starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. Sony did have some sort of success when it came to Sam Raimi's Spider-Man franchise, while the Marc Webb duo of films dubbed The Amazing Spider-Man performed rather poorly.
Even with this quick sneak peek at even the smallest bit of action in Spider-Man: Homecoming, it looks like there might be more to Spider-Man than just his sense of humor and his new super suit. This new gear can be seen coming off of Spider-Man's chest and flying off into the distance as the superhero looks on.
