Schmidt's first name finally revealed on New Girl

Prepare for a spoiler six seasons in the making.

"I'm going to start using my first name again", Schmidt tells Winston, whose face drops and tells his friend that it is a "very bad idea". As a matter of fact, Tuesday's installment looks to be a key one where one of the biggest mysteries of the entire series is resolved: Schmidt's first name. The same name that has been given to one of their closest friends, Winston (Lamorne Morris).

Revealing Schmidt's name in the upcoming episode could be another clue that the sixth season of the comedy sitcom will be its last.

He said in the groundbreaking moment: "The time has finally come". His name might cause some ruffles in the loft, considering his roommate's first name is also Winston.

Zooey Deschanel's New Girl is now in its sixth season, and while we have had many questions along the way, like, will Nick and Jess ever get together?

The team did their research before making the big reveal. It was the name I was called for most of my life, and I want my name back, ' he admits before holding a nameplate.

"When I was born, my parents gave me a name", he continues. Following the reveal, "New Girl" heads Brett Baer and Dave Finkel shared some information to TV Line about the name and why they chose to hold it off until the second to the last episode of Season 6.

But Johnson and the rest of the cast are still under contract with the network, which means that they still have to reprise their roles for the next season of "New Girl" if FOX calls for its renewal.
