The Next Valkyria Game Gets Release Date, Price and Vanargand Edition

The follow-up to Valkyria Chronicles will release on Xbox One and PS4 physically and digitally on June 27th in the U.S. and June 30th in the European Union, with a digital version coming to the Vita on the same dates in the respective regions. It's priced at $40 (about £32/€37) on all platforms. Check out a new teaser below, followed by a peek at the Vanargand Edition, which will be available with pre-orders and limited launch copies. In Europe, pre-orders and limited launch copies include the 12-track soundtrack. The trailer showcases the new setting in the game (we are no longer in the World War 2 era, but rather in the early Industrial era), as well as the new battle system- changes that may alienate some fans, but which are likely to win new ones over. You can check it out at the top of this post.

In Valkyria Revolution the people of Jutland want independence from the rule of the powerful empire of Rus.

Though it bears the Valkyria name, Valkyria Revolution eschews the original series' traditional turn-based strategy and is a whole new entry with new characters, a new world, and new gameplay mechanics. They will try to achieve the impossible by turning the war in Jutland's favor, counting with the support of their nation's very own Princess, Ophelia. However, Amleth Gronkjaer, the commanding officer of Vanargand hides a awful secret. She's bound by oath to the enemy forces and players will have to figure out how to defeat her. Players can take control of the battlefield using brazen combos or cunning tactics. The battle system, however, will be completely different taking away the turn-based pace in favor of a more action-oriented system.

The Ingenuity of War - Through adversity comes great engineering, and with a besieged homeland, players will have upgrade their existing weapons through branching customization paths. The game has been rated T by ESRB.
