Jadeja's amusing reply when asked about chat with Wade

Aninkya Rahane (46) and Ravindra Jadeja (63) were instrumental in giving India a 32-run lead by the time they were bowled out 27 overs into day three.

Jadeja did not keep quiet and hit back at the Australian stumper.

Nothing would delight an Indian fan more than watching Ravindra Jadeja evolve over the last one year. "That motivated me", the No.1 Test bowler said at the post-match presentation. "Bahut achcha lagta hai jab log mujhe responsible player kehtey hain (I like it a lot when people call me a responsible player)", he said.

"He's had an incredible series, an incredible summer back home, he is just playing like a man possessed".

Set a target of 106 to win the match and with it the series, India were 19 for no loss at stumps, needing another 87.

Jadeja and Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade were seen exchanging words on at least a couple of occasions in a tense first session. A fired-up Pat Cummins made a decision to test Jadeja's resolve by unleashing a barrage of bouncers, one even striking the batsman on his arm and ricocheting onto the helmet grille. Jadeja was struck on the arm and thereafter the grill by Cummins and he responded with a pulled four and hooked six. He scored a half century. I told (Wriddhiman) Saha we will have to bat it out and see this through. Another salient and perhaps, the most crucial feature of his bowling has been that he has given very little away. The strategy backfired completely as first the Indian pacers Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar got stuck into them, following which the spin duo of R Ashwin and Jadeja took over. The fact that experts have often given him the tag India's MVP in Tests has delighted him to no end. This season is a good response to them. If someone works hard, it is with an aim to become a valuable player. So each performance for India is memorable as there are no easy matches for the country.
