India and Pakistan united in their respect, worship for Bhagat Singh

"While the BJP wants to name the airport after their ex-CM, the public wants it be named after Bhagat Singh".

March 23 is marked as Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs' Day to remember the day when three courageous freedom fighters were hanged by the British.

The civil society members and academics in Pakistan demanded apology from the British Queen for the killing of the trio.

The proposed statue will be the tallest memorial of Bhagat Singh in the country. "Singh will be echoed against every imperialistic regime", said Abdullah Malik, president of Bhagat Singh Foundation Pakistan.

The newly-appointed Chief Minister of Punjab Capatain Amarinder Singh who is skipping the event to mark the day, tweeted, "I salute our great heroes Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru on their martyrdom anniversary,".

The Border Security Force is also planning to put on display the pistol used by the freedom fighter Bhagat Singh to kill British officer John Saunders in 1928, at its new arms museum here.

Punjab University's Dean of Social Sciences Iqbal Chawla averred that unlike Gandhi, founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah had supported Bhagat Singh's struggle and declared it was perfectly legal.

Born on 28 September 1907, Bhagat Singh is considered one of the most influential revolutionaries of the Indian independence movement.

Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged in Lahore Jail on March 23, 1931.
