In a recent interview with Time magazine, President Trump pointed out the obvious, saying that he's president and the reporter is not. "O.K., I didn't mind when you talked dirty with Billy Bush, or told Russian Federation to hack Hillary's e-mails". Which is why people like Seth Meyers are the people we need to tie it all together, and maybe, just maybe, keep us sane.
"'I'm president and you're not?'" Meyers said. But Trump doesn't use justone potentially pilfered talking point, Meyers noted.
"The last 24 hours in politics have been truly mind-boggling", said Seth Meyers in last night's A Closer Look.
He defended his many statements to Time's Washington bureau chief Michael Scherer for the magazine's cover story, titled Is Truth Dead? "You know, I hate to say this, but Donald, you ignorant slut".
To show how he truly feels, Meyers had to steal a line that we won't repeat here - a word that a young Dan Aykroyd used to call co-host Jane Curtin when they hosted Weekend Update.
"Also, I happen to know this isn't the first time you've done this", Meyers added, before playing a clip of "Weekend Update" anchor Norm MacDonald using the term "fake news".
And then there was Jimmy Kimmel, who had his own reservations about the "I'm president." line: "Let's check back in a week or two and see if that's still the case".
