NEET to be held on May 7 across India, announces CBSE

A total of 11,35,104 candidates has registered for NEET 2017 examination which is scheduled to be held on 7 May.

Looking into the substantial increase in number of registered candidates this year, the Minister of Human Resources and Development, Government of India aims to add 23 cities to the list of 80 where the examination will be held. This will not only help candidates from interior parts of the country to take the examination more easily, it will save the trouble of travelling to different parts and arrange for their stay to take the examination. With this, the total number of examination centres has reached 103. "They can log on to NEET website - for revising their option of cities chosen earlier", it said.

Javadekar in his tweet mentioned that the inclusion of 23 new examination cities for NEET UG examination would make the numbers on par with the IIT JEE examination centres. 2 new cities have been added in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and West Bengal.

Many students across the country had demanded for more examination cities, especially in Maharashtra, since all health science aspirants will have to appear for NEET examinations this.

Besides, more than 2200 institutions will be made centers based on their credibility, reliability, and infrastructure. CBSE will also inspect these centers to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) is a national level exam introduced in 2016 conducted for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
